IdentityThe central theme of this project was entitled “Identity and Representation.” As such I decided to create images that convey the loss of identity in a city environment. I considered the paradoxical phenomenon of urban loneliness and elected to employ double exposures to create artistic and abstract images that capture this elusive feeling.

StreetAnother genre close to my heart is urban street photography, particularly at night-time. The glow of incandescent lighting, the rush of vehicles and the hustle and bustle of the streets all lend a certain “biological” character to the city. As lights bleed into the night and darkness envelops the characters on this urban stage the city takes its waking breaths.

FashionThese images are taken from a fashion-based project completed in 2012. Eschewing the sterile nature of studio-based fashion shoots, I fused the unique historical character of Manchester with my experience of outdoor, urban photography to create an intriguing and engaging atmosphere that juxtaposes high fashion with Northern industrial roots.

Double ExposuresMuch of my recent work has centred on using double exposures. These are some colour examples from my “Identity and Representation” project. Although I used black and white shots for my final images exhibited at Decipher I still find some of the colour variants fascinating.
